WARNING
Please BEWARE. There are many internet scams. One variation of which is to try and get your bank account details on the pretext of transfering you some money for payment etc. Although I'm sure there are still some honest people left, it's not worth taking a risk. It is not advisable to give your bank account details to anyone on this proviso. We have not yet heard of any of our advertisers being fooled, but we have had reports of dubious email enquiries!
To try to reduce these annoying time wasters, it is now necessary to register with us, to be able to answer an advert. Also the advertisers email address is kept hidden! Please report any user that causes concern to admin@guitarsmart.net.
PLEASE don't be put off advertising, buying or selling...just be careful.
ADVICE
Purchasers and potential purchasers are advised that they should satisfy themselves about the veracity of advertisements and the availability any goods they intend to purchase before travelling to make a viewing. Guitarsmart.net cannot accept any liability for any unnecessary travel costs or expenses incurred in this respect. If you do not know much about guitars (it may be your first purchase) then take someone with you who has some knowledge and knows what to look for. There are publications and reference books about most makes of guitar that include serial numbers, identification hints and years of issue. We have included a list of books at the end of this article.
Vendors should note that Copyright laws prohibit the use of terms like 'Strat' copy or 'Les Paul' copy etc in advertisements. So, if you are selling a copy of a any such generic model then you may prefer to advertise on this web site with a photo of the guitar then everyone will know what you have for sale and no laws will be broken!! We here at Guitarsmart.net think that this is a great idea and of particular benefit to the millions of owners of 'copies' around the world who may have no other way of advertising their trusty guitars!!
Guitarsmart.net does not wish to become involved in the auctioning of instruments. Our research suggests that this type of selling is not an efficient or straightforward way of selling (or even buying) the 'average' guitar. Therefore we do not intend to carry adverts of this type.
TRADE
UK law also stipulates that 'dealers' (trade) have to declare that fact when placing advertisements. We are happy to accept adverts from 'trade' as long as this fact is declared and made clear on the advert itself.
